Holiday Campaign

We know that for every recipient we send our care boxes to, there are many more that could also benefit greatly from one of our baby care packages.

There are approximately 700 to 900 babies born each year in Nunavut. As you are aware, all 25 communities are fly-in and the high cost for shipping and limited supplies available make it very difficult for many families. According to Statistics Canada, in 2022 the national poverty rate was 8.7%, while in Nunavut it was 29.1%. We also know that poverty disproportionately affects Indigenous communities. We are working hard to try to combat this inequity.

When we send out a baby care package, each child receives three large Canada Post flat rate boxes filled with new and gently used clothing for the size and gender they request as well as a size up. Boxes include sleepers, several outfits, blankets, hygiene items such as baby wash, bottles, books, a snow suit and boots when we have them, and an age-appropriate stuffed toy.

With the Holiday season upon us, this is the time when many people are considering making a gift to a charity that has a special meaning for them or a loved one. It is also a time of year when many families are looking for things to do to help others in need.
