Members of the St. Louis Catholic Women's League preparing quotes to send to babies in Nunavut

St. Louis, Louisdale

Excerpt from the Antigonish Diocesan Catholic Women’s League Spring 2024 Newsletter

Members of St. Louis Catholic Women’s League, Louisdale have been busy throughout the winter gathering baby items/clothing for their “One Plane Away” initiative. Members endorsed their support for this project.

One Plane Away is a registered charity which sends care boxes to babies in Nunavut. Nunavut has the highest birth rate in Canada, doubling the National birthrate of 9.4%, more than any other Canadian province or territory. Nunavut consists of 25 fly-in only communities. This means that all supplies including food and baby supplies come in by plane or water (if the community is accessible). Essential baby items are expensive and in limited supply. One Plane Away’s primary objective is to help support Nunavut babies in need.
