Hands Up Canada

Hands Up Canada is a charity dedicated to supporting the country’s most underserved communities.

The organization has a dedicated group of sewers, crocheters and knitters who make beautiful baby items. They use them in Diaper Bag Backpack layettes for newborn babies for new moms in local Toronto shelters and also to ship to  communities in the North. They regularly send the backpacks to a hospital in the Northwest Territories. Their goal is to find more remote communities with midwives or other healthcare workers who can distribute the bags to their maternity patients.

Because they receive so many handmade blankets, quilts and toys  as well as donations of new baby clothes larger than 6 months, Hands Up Canada often has a surplus – these items are included in their boxes to One Plane Away.
